The Indian rail network is known to provide the best transportation services to the large population in India at the best cheapest price possible. The Indian rail network has trains that cover all the nook and corner of the country. There are many super-fast trains in India like Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Durunto, etc., out of which Gatimaan tops the list.

Gatimaan Express, India’s fastest train

Gatimaan Express that runs between Agra Cantt Railway station and H.Nizamuddin Railway station at Delhi is currently the fastest train in India that runs at a speed of about 160 km/hr. It covers 188 km in 100 minutes. The train starts at about 8 10 am from Nizammudin and reaches Agra by 9 50 am. The same train leaves from Agra Cantt by 5 50 pm and reaches Delhi by 7 30 pm. The train services on all days except on Fridays. The train charges very nominal fare for the exceptional service it provides. The food that is provided is of a very high and class quality. It is a combination of Western, North and South Indian cuisine.

The first service was on April 5, 2016. The train runs nonstop from Delhi to Agra. The train also provides a tour itinerary that covers places like Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, and Sikander in about two days and a night agenda.

The newly planned route of Gatimaan Express

The train is stationed at Agra the entire day after it reaches by 9 50 am. The idea is to extend the route up to Jhansi after covering Gwalior. The route of Agra-Gwalior-Jhansi cannot have the same speed of 160 km/hr. As the route between the new stretches that has been proposed does not actually support that high speed. Instead, the train would travel at a speed of 130km/hr. in its extended route.

The train is equipped with so many modern facilities like Bio Toilets, Wi-Fi, 8 inches LCD at the back of every seat, Train Hostess, Multimedia and Hotspot Services, Passenger Information System, Automatic Fire Alarm, etc.,

The new route is yet to function as the Railways board is contemplating on whether to go by the old rates that had been fixed or to frame new rates for the extended route.

This is a good idea that would generate revenue from the train that has some great facilities, and that is put to rest in a train shed for a larger duration of time.
