India’s COVID-19 count crossed the figure of 1 crore cases on Saturday, nearly 11 months after the first case was reported in the country.

The milestone of 1 crore COVID-19 cases came after a rise of 25,153 new cases was reported on Saturday morning, taking the total tally to 1,00,04,599. A total of 347 deaths from COVID-19 was also reported in the previous 24 hours, taking the total number of fatalities to 1,45,136.

India is the nation with the highest number of COVID-19 cases after the US. On Saturday morning, the ministry of health tweeted about the country’s achievements in curbing COVID-19 spread.

The ministry of health tweeted the recovery rate was now over 95 per cent, one of the highest in the world. “India’s #COVID Recoveries have witnessed a steep exponential rise – from 50,000 in May to over 95L in December. Recoveries are more than 30 times the Active Cases (currently only 3.14% of Total Cases),” the ministry of health tweeted.
