Debutant Priya Punia unbeaten on 75 Jemimah Rodrigues scored 55 runs

Indian women kept their winning record straight after they beat South Africa in the first ODI played at Vadodara. Debutant Priya Punia was unbeaten on 75 as the team achieved the winning target in 41.4 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues scored 55 runs and put the foundation with Punia at the start of the innings with a opening stand of 83 runs.

Decided to bat South Africa Women were bowled out for 164 runs in 45.1 overs as the Indian bowlers tighten their grip since the start of the innings. Experienced Jhulan Goswami strikes in the very first ball of the match after she get the wicket of Lizelle Lee. She later took two wickets to take her tally to three wickets giving away 33 runs.

SA women team was never allowed to be settle in their innings by the Indian bowlers. After the first bowl wicket by Goswami South Africa lose wickets at regular intervals. Apart from Kapp who scored 54 runs, none of the player able to impress the scorers. The team was bowled out for 164 with Goswami took three wickets followed by two wickets each taken by Shikha Pandey, Ekta Bisht and Poonam Yadav.

In reply India put up a solid start as both the openers scored the runs with ease. Priya Punia and Rodrigues bat well to post a opening stand of 83 runs before Rodrigues was out after scored a half century. Punia continues to bat well on the other end as she was first joined by Punam Raut and later by captain Mithali Raj. Punia was unbeaten on 75 as India beat their opponents by eight wickets.
