Now foreigners,NRIs can book train tickets from abroad.

Foreigners , NRIs will soon be allowed to book train ticket from abroad for domestic travel in India using their debit card or credit card issued by respective foreign banks.

Currently foreigners and NRIs book their tickets through tour operaters or someone staying in India.

According to IRCTC this facilty was existing earlier but due to few cases of misuse of credit cards it was stopped.

IRCTC a railway PSU has taken series of measures to strenghthen website security against hacking.

It has engaged Standardization Ticketing and Quality control (STQC) a website Security audit expert to check the system, they certified the site to be safe.

At present the site takes load of 15000 tickets in a minute means 250 tickets in a second,58 percent of tickets are booked online from total no.of tickets.

This facilty will be in use from end of the month.
