The building of CNCI's second campus was inspired by Prime Minister Modi's desire to grow and improve health care in all parts of the country.
The second campus of CNCI was created in keeping with PM Modi's ambition to develop and enhance health facilities across the country, according to an announcement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
CNCI, according to PMO, is dealing with a high volume of cancer patients. For some decades, there has been a need for growth, and the second campus will provide that requirement.
The following are some notable facts concerning CNCI's second campus:
- The CNCI's second campus cost about Rs 530 crore to construct.
According to the PMO, the Union government contributed over Rs 400 crore and the West Bengal government contributed the rest in a 75:25 ratio.
- The site houses a 460-bed comprehensive cancer centre with cutting-edge cancer diagnostic, staging, treatment, and care infrastructure.
- It has cutting-edge technology such as nuclear medicine (PET), 3.0 Tesla MRI, 128 slice CT scanner, radionuclide therapy unit, endoscopic suite, and advanced brachytherapy units.
- The campus will also serve as an advanced cancer research institution and provide comprehensive care to cancer patients, particularly those from the country's eastern and northeastern regions, according to the announcement.
Meanwhile, even after a huge security breakdown in Punjab, which left PM Modi's convoy trapped on a flyover for "15-20 minutes," PM Modi has a busy schedule. On Saturday (January 8, 2022), the prime minister will meet with renowned economists in conjunction with the next Budget, and on Sunday, he will address a massive rally in Lucknow (January 9, 2022).
