The police in the two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been raiding and retrieving outlawed narcotic drug marijuana (ganja) that is being supplied to Maharashtra, which is a cause for great concern. In the most recent incidence, the Rachakonda police commissionerate in Telangana confiscated 1,240 kg of marijuana being carried to Mumbai on Monday morning (November 15, 2021).
The commissionerate's Special Operations Team (SOT) intercepted vehicles transporting marijuana under the Medipally police limits on the outskirts of Hyderabad city.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the seized ganja, which is reported to be valued over Rs 2 crores.
"Based on specific intelligence input, our SOT teams intercepted these vehicles and seized the banned substance. The culprits confessed that the banned substance was being procured from Sileru near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and being transported to Mumbai via Telangana. The packing was being done in an abandoned garage on the outskirts of Hyderabad," disclosed Mahesh M Bhagwat, Commissioner, Rachakonda police.

Section 20 (b) (c) of the NDPS act has been used to charge those apprehended.
