Supreme Court grants bail to AAP's Sanjay Singh in Delhi liquor policy case
New Update

The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted bail to AAP leader Sanjay Singh in the Delhi liquor policy case. The court's action came after the Enforcement Directorate said that it no longer requires Singh in custody.

A bench comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice P.B. Varale granted the bail while hearing Singh's plea challenging his arrest and remand in the money laundering case.

The court, however, pointed out that the concession given to Singh should not be cited as a precedent.

The top court told Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju, who appeared for the ED, that no money was recovered from Singh's possession and the allegation of him receiving a Rs 2 crore bribe could be tested in the trial.

In a post-lunch session, Raju said that the central probe agency does not require Singh's custody further.

The AAP leader was arrested in the case by the ED on October 4 last year. The ED case is based on an FIR registered by the CBI.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Health Minister Satyendar Jain are under judicial custody in the money laundering case.
