Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a day’s Pune tour tomorrow. During this, the Prime Minister will be honored with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award.
PM will be the 41st recipient of this award. The award was instituted in 1983 by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust.
This award is given every year on 1st August , the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak, to persons who have made remarkable and extraordinary contributions, working for the progress and development of the nation.
Earlier, former President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, Pranab Mukherjee, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Indira Gandhi, Dr. Manmohan Singh and eminent persons like N R Narayan Murthy, and Dr. E. Shridharan have been honored with this award. Prime Minister will begin his Pune tour with darshan and worship at the Dagdusheth Ganpati temple.
The Prime Minister will also flag off the metro rail to inaugurate the services of the completed second phase of the Pune Metro. The foundation of this project was laid by the Prime Minister himself in 2016.
