India Giving a mega push to the development projects of West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Centre has tried to bridge the development gap in Bengal for the last ten years. 

The Prime Minister unveiled multiple development projects worth 15 thousand crore rupees from Krishnanagar in Nadia district of West Bengal in Krishnanagar in Nadia district this morning. 

PM Modi said the Central Government is working to provide momentum to West Bengal's economic growth and create job opportunities.

The Prime Minister said mentioned that yesterday, he laid the foundation of and inaugurated projects worth 7,000 crore rupees. 

He added that the initiatives included development projects related to railways, ports, and petroleum, among others. PM Modi said that West Bengal acts as the "eastern gate" of India. 

Mr. Modi also laid the foundation stone of Damodar Valley Corporation's Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station Phase II (2x660 MW), located in the Purulia district.

He also inaugurated the flue gas desulfurisation (FGD) system at Mejia Thermal Power Station, developed at 650 crore rupees.

The Prime Minister said, the Government is working towards making the State self-reliant for its present and future energy needs.

He stated that electricity is an important factor that drives the development of every sector of the economy.

The Prime Minister dedicated to the nation four rail projects worth more than 940 crore rupees in the State.

These are the doubling of the Damodar-Mohishila line, the third line between Rampurhat and Murarai, the doubling of the Bazarsau-Azimganj rail line, and a new line connecting Azimganj and Murshidabad, said an official statement.

The Prime Minister said that West Bengal once occupied a place of pride when it came to railways. "But this legacy was not carried forward, and the State lagged,' he said.

The event saw the participation of the Governor of West Bengal Dr C V Ananda Bose, leader of the Opposition at State Assembly Suvendu Adhikari, Minister of State Shantunu Thakur, MP Jagannath Sarkar and BJP State president and MP Dr Sukanto Majumdar.
