PM Modi reply to the motion of Thanks on the President’s address in Rajya Sabha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the constitution is not only a compilation of articles, but its spirit and words are valuable for the government. He said that the constitution is a lighthouse to give direction to the government.

PM Modi stated this while replying in the Rajya Sabha on the Motion of Thanks to the President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament.

Lauding the contribution of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Prime Minister said that the constitution is entering its 75th year.

During his speech, he hit out at those who opposed the celebration of Constitution Day, saying that it has become a people’s festival. 

On the vision of the government during the third term of the NDA government, the Prime Minister said that fighting against poverty will be the key agenda of the government.

He said the country would be victorious against poverty. Mr. Modi said pace, depth, and extension of the welfare schemes will be the top priorities of the government.

He said the government is committed to making the country the third-largest economy in the world in its third term. He said the country will witness massive changes in the public transport system in the next five years.

He said that under the PM Kisan Samman Yojana, over 10 crore farmers have been benefited, and over three lakh crore rupees have been disbursed to farmers in the last six years.

He said the country’s economy has reached the fifth spot from the tenth spot despite challenges posed by the COVID pandemic.

He said the people supported the work done during the last ten years of this government, and they have chosen performance.

 He said that after six decades, it happened that people had chosen any government for the third time in a row.

When the Prime Minister was making the statement, the opposition parties, including Congress, DMK, TMC, Aam Aadmi Party, and others, created a ruckus and came into the well.

Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar asked them to take back their seats. Later, the opposition parties walked out of the House. 

On the opposition’s walkout, the Prime Minister said the opposition does not have the courage to listen to the answers to those queries raised by them.

He termed the walk out of opposition an insult to the Upper House. The chairman, too, expressed his displeasure over the opposition’s walkout.

Earlier, when the House met this morning, the discussion resumed with a Motion of Thanks to the President’s address.

Rwngwra Narzary of the UPP (L) said the North East region has flourished due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy. 

He said peace has been brought to the region, and several militant groups have signed peace treaties. He said Assam has also witnessed tremendous development under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The House paid tribute to the people who lost their lives in the tragic incident in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, yesterday. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said the loss of lives and injuries in this tragic incident is painful and unfortunate.

He said all the necessary steps are being taken to provide medical aid to the injured. He said authorities have set up a committee to investigate the matter.

The leader of the opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge, suggested that laws should be made to stop such kinds of incidents.

He said the Union Home Minister must make a statement over the Hathras’ incident. 

On making a law to stop such incidents, the Chairman said this is an important point raised by the Leader of the Opposition.

He said it will be an extremely healthy tradition for the Treasury and opposition benches to get together to find solutions to prevent such incidents.

The House also paid an obituary to the former member and observed silence in respect of the departed soul.
