Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates India's biggest Drone Festival-Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022 this morning at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

Drones have many functions, ranging from monitoring climate change to agriculture, geo mapping, carrying out search operations after natural disasters, photography, filming, and delivering goods.

Their use by the security agencies for reconnaissance, surveillance and in some cases targeted attacks is also well known.

The evolution of complementary technologies like 5G, augmented reality and computer vision is expected to drive drone market growth and improve drone communication and intelligence.

They are also used in fertilizer and pestcide spraying, afforestation, Healthcare delivery, telecom tower inspection, VIP security and High altitude surveillance.

AIR correspondent reports that the Prime Minister will interact with Kisan drone pilots and also witness open-air drone demonstrations and interact with startups in the drone exhibition centre.

Bharat Drone Mahotsav will prove to be a game changer in making India a drone hub of the world by 2030. During this two day Mahotsav, over 1600 delegates will participate and more than 70 exhibitors will display drones at the exhibition. 

Several industry leaders, government officials, foreign diplomats, representatives from Public Sector Units, private companies and drone startups will participate in the Mahotsav and deliberate upon India's Civil Aviation sector.

Mahotsav will also witness virtual awards presentation ceremony of drone pilot certificates, product launches, flying demonstrations, display of a Made in India Drone Taxi prototype. 

The Government has been working to establish a globally-leading drone ecosystem in India which will create the physical and digital infrastructure to support safe, efficient and secure operation of drones in the Indian airspace. 

Drones offer tremendous benefits to almost all sectors of the economy. These include - agriculture, mining, infrastructure, surveillance, emergency response, transportation, geo-mapping, defence and law enforcement.
