New Update

Yoti Nainwal, the wife of fallen soldier Deepak Nainwal, graduated from the Officers' Training Academy in Chennai on Saturday and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army.

Deepak Nainwal, her husband, was killed fighting terrorists in Kulgam, Jammu & Kashmir, in 2018.

Lieutenant Jyoti Nainwal was cheered on by her two children, who were also dressed in army uniforms for the occasion, during the passing out procession on Saturday.

Lieutenant Jyoti Nainwal thanked the Mahar Regiment and her family for their support. "I never thought I'll go for a job as I was a homemaker. Only when my husband was in the hospital, I saw how the Army takes care of their soldiers. So I decided to join the Army and my husband's Mahar Regiment helped. I want to tell the wives of other martyrs that we should live in a way that our children don't need to take anyone else as their inspiration," she said.

Lavanya Nainwal, her daughter, expressed her admiration for her mother and stated that she, too, aspires to be an Army officer one day. "I'd like to express my gratitude to the Mahar Regiment. She has become an Army officer as a result of them, and I am quite proud of her "she stated.

Soon after her husband died, Jyoti Nainwal prepared for the Service Selection Board exam for entrance into the armed forces. She completed eleven months of training at the institution in Chennai after passing the test.

On Saturday, more than 150 cadets were commissioned. The passing out procession was attended by Vice-Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen CP Mohanty.
