J&K: Voting underway for third and final phase of Assembly Elections

In Jammu and Kashmir, a voter turnout of 11.60 per cent was recorded in the first two hours of voting in the third and last phase of Assembly polls today.

In Jammu and Kashmir, a voter turnout of 11.60 per cent was recorded in the first two hours of voting in the third and last phase of Assembly polls today.

The voting began at 7 AM in all the 5060 polling stations across 40 Assembly segments of the seven districts of the Union Territory amid tight security arrangements.

These districts are Jammu, Kathua, Samba and Udhampur in the Jammu region and Kupwara, Baramulla and Bandipora in the Kashmir Valley. 

As part of the Election Commission’s efforts to ensure transparency, all the polling stations are having webcasting facilities and are provided with Assured Minimum Facilities like drinking water, electricity, toilet, ramps, furniture, veranda/shed, besides wheelchairs will also be provided to the needy.

First two phases of assembly elections were held on 18th September and 25th September in Jammu and Kashmir. The counting of votes will take place on 8th October.
