On Sunday, a cylinder explosion in a residence in Delhi's Azadpur injured 17 people.

A PCR call was received at around 10.08 a.m. in Adarsh Nagar police station mentioning a fire accident in a residence near Lalbagh masjid, Azadpur, caused by a cylinder blow, according to the police.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they discovered 17 people who had suffered burn injuries and were taken to the hospital.

With minor burn injuries, 16 people were admitted to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, while one was admitted to RML Hospital. According to the authorities, no one was hurt in the event.

Five homes were destroyed by the blast, and four fire tenders were dispatched to extinguish the blaze.

"On preliminary inquiry, it was found that one Pappu Kumar was changing gas cylinder in his house at 3rd floor and during the process, the cylinder blasted and roof and walls of his house collapsed and due to its impact 4 other houses of 2nd floor also collapsed," said the police.

According to the authorities, an investigation into the incident is ongoing, and legal action is being taken as a result.
