New Update

Home Minister Amit Shah has said that breach of Parliament security was a serious security lapse and assured stringent measures to strengthen the security system in days to come.

He also expressed dismay while over protests by opposition parties.

Speaking at a media event in New Delhi, Mr Shah said, the Lok Sabha is investigating the matter, and a committee has been formed to provide a report within 15-20 days.

He said, everybody knows Parliament security is under Speaker adding that after the Speaker wrote to the Ministry of Home Affairs, it has formed an enquiry committee and the report will be sent to Speaker soon.

Talking about implementation of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the country, the Home Minister said that BJP remains steadfast to this commitment.

He said, UCC was the Constituent Assembly's mandate to the country's legislature and Parliament.

Amit Shah said in 1944, the Constituent Assembly kept some matters it could not implement in the Directive Principles of State Policy and UCC was one of this.

Talking about different states taking steps to implement UCC, the Home Minister said, the Common Civil Code is a huge social and legal change and there is need of everybody's opinion on this.
