BJP today questioned the silence of opposition parties on the Sandeshkhali incident in West Bengal.

Briefing media in New Delhi, party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said, Congress Rahul Gandhi, who speaks on every subject, is also silent on this incident.

He asked that if the parties don't have even the courage to say that what is happening in Sandeshkhali is unfortunate and shameful.

The BJP leader said, the emergence of patient assault, humiliating treatment, and sexual assault of women in Sandeshkhali is a shame on the society and democracy.

He said, it is shameful that a woman Chief Minister is putting the honour of women at stake to save her political credibility. Ravi Shankar Prasad hit out at Mamata Banerjee for defending the main culprit of the incident Sheikh Shahjahan.

He said, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was not allowed to go there, a journalist covering the matter was even arrested.

The BJP leader asked what Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wants to hide. He said, the matter of Sandeshkhali is so grave and unfortunate.

Ravi Shankar Prasad asked why Shahjahan was not being arrested. 

He said, whatever information is coming out is not only shameful for any civilised society, but it is also the height of wretchedness.
