Amid spike in new infections, Uttar Pradesh is declared as a COVID-affected state

Uttar Pradesh has been named a COVID-affected state due to an increase in COVID-19 cases. In an order dated December 27, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad stated that the decision was made after reviewing the COVID-19 scenario.

According to Prasad's ruling, the entire state of Uttar Pradesh has been classified COVID-affected under Section 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Public Health and Epidemic Control Act, 2020.

It stated that the statement would be in effect until March 31, 2022, or until new directives were issued, whichever came first. In light of the escalating number of Omicron cases, the state has implemented a night curfew from December 25 onwards. The night curfew is in effect from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m.

In addition, the maximum number of guests allowed at weddings has been set at 200. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has ordered that Covid regulations be observed at all times during events.

Uttar Pradesh has recorded two cases of Omicron, both of which have recovered from the virus, according to the Union Health Ministry.
