Prime Minister Narendra Modi will once again address the nation at 8 PM today. In a tweet, both in Hindi and English, the prime minister said he will address the country on some vital aspects relating to the menace of COVID-19.
PM Modi,
over the past few days, has been extremely active on social media, exhorting
people to cut down on travel, stay indoors and extend solidarity to those
leading the battle against the deadly Coronavirus, which has claimed over
13,000 lives world over.
India has
been in a state of a near-complete shutdown as authorities take strict measures
to contain the spread of COVID-19. In his last address, the prime minister had
requested the people of the country to observe a day long “Janata
curfew” and come out on their terraces and balconies, clap and clang
utensil to thank those on the frontlines against the Coronavirus.
On March 22,
the millions around the country did exactly the same to express gratitude
towards the doctors, policmen and delivery boys etc who risk their lives to
ensure others stay safe. The prime minister had also requested everyone not to
believe rumours.
The Prime
Minister had also laid emphasis on individual ‘determination’ and
“restraint through social distancing” in fighting the global pandemic
and called for ‘Janta Curfew’ on March 22 to prepare for challenges of the
future.
