Amidst the epidemic of corona virus, the festivities have begun with Gaurivrat in Vadodara city. From 20th July Dashama festival will start and the idol makers are busy in completing the orders in makeshift tents at Kalamandir lane in Nyaymandir. However the sheds were demolished by the corporation teams brought outrage among the traders.

Dashamaa festival is celebrated every year with great enthusiasm in the city for 10 days. This year the festival starts from 20th July and devotees are eagerly waiting for the fasting days to begin and worship goddess Dashamaa. There is a big market for selling Dashamaa statues at the Rokadnath Murti Bazaar in Mangalbazar, Vadodara. Temporary sheds are built by merchants to sell statues, but this time the corporation is taking every precautions to prevent the transmission of Corona epidemic.

Seasonal trader Digesh Prajapati expressed displeasure after the action by the corporation. He said, the four month lockdown following the global Corona epidemic Corona had badly affected on business and employment. After the Unlock 2 they has barely get time to start work for 5 to 7 days but corporation action affected their business. They also understand about the potential spread of Corona and demand the administration shall provide such facility where the virus does not spread and they can do their business.

Notably, markets have started across the city for the sale of Dashamaa idols as well as other items for festival. Social distancing is not observed in the idol selling markets and on the one hand Corona cases is on the rise. The number of cases is also increasing in the villages. With festivals are approaching including Dashamaa, it is necessary to follow the rules or else it could prove dangerous.
