This Gram Panchayat elections in Gujarat saw change of positions and new ones are elected to the post of Sarpanch. However the change of positions brought ugly side of the elections as the clashes between the supporters of old and new elected were seen frequently.

After the two Rabbari groups of Kotali Gram Panchayat clashed in Vadodara outside the counting booth, a similar incident happened in Paldi village under Subhelat Gram Panchayat where the losing candidate attacked the newly elected Sarpanch at her home.

The newly elected Sarpanch Taraben Nagji Vasava and her husband was attacked on Friday night by the losing candidate and his supporters when they were at home. The attackers hit both with sticks and other things where Nagji Vasava was injured and was shifted to SSG hospital for treatment. Bhadarva police registered the case and further investigating in the matter and are in the process to arrest the accused.

“After the elections a new Sarpanch was elected in Paldi village and in a act of revenge the losing candidate reached the home of new Sarpanch and there was a verbal fight between them. The losing candidate called one or two supporters of his and they attacked the husband of the new elected Sarpanch Tara Vasava. The injured was first taken to Savli then reffered to SSG hospital for treatment. We registered the offence and in the process to arrest the culprits,” said the police official on duty of Bhadarva police station.

On 29th December on the counting day two Rabbari groups clashed in Vadodara where the losing candidate of Kotali Gram Panchayat hit the winning candidate with a milk can. The winning candidate was rushed to the SSG hospital after injured on head and both the groups came clashing in with each other. Navapura police registered the matter in this regard and further investigating.
