A huge fire broke out in an ST bus carrying passengers from Vadodara to Ahmedabad near Ajod village on the Express Highway near Vadodara. Fortunately 29 passengers including the driver had a close shave after the bus engulfed in fire.
As per available details, an ST train carrying 29 passengers from Vadodara Central ST Depot was going to Ahmedabad Gita Mandir. Meanwhile, on the express highway near Ajod village, a sudden fire broke out in the rear tyre of the bus. The driver immediately parked the bus on the side of the road and told all passengers to get off the bus. All of them moves out of the bus in time before the fire spread and engulfed the whole bus.
Chhani TP 13 sub fire officer Kiran Baria said, the fire broke out in an ST bus full of passengers near Ajod village on the Express Highway. After the message they rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire with continuous flow of water. No casualties were reported in the fire, but due to ferocious fire, the ST bus was burnt to ashes. However, due to the driver's timely action all the 29 passengers aboard the ST bus have been saved.
He further said that as per preliminary investigation and information by ST bus driver, the fire broke out due to friction between the liner and tires of the ST bus. All the passengers in the bus were shifted to another bus and continue their journey towards Ahmedabad.
