New Update

With support of Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan, Humane Society International in India has successfully sterilized and vaccinated 70% of street dogs in Vadodara. A monitoring survey shows a sharp decline in lactating females and puppies. This year, 4,584 street dogs were sterilized and vaccinated against rabies by HSI/India.

Dr. Sanjay, program manager, HSI/India Dog Population Management program, Vadodara said, “Next year, our focus will be more on female dogs, to limit the increase of the dog population by preventing the birth of unwanted puppies”.

Dr. Vijay Panchal, market superintendent, VMC, said, “Sterilization rates have been maintained at almost pre-pandemic levels due to the newly implemented catching protocol developed by HSI/India to utilize teams’ capacities to advance catching numbers. In 2021, significant improvements will be achieved in the wards with lower female sterilization rates (Wards 9, 5 and 12, as well as Ward 1 and Ward 3), while maintaining or further improving the female sterilization rates in all other Wards”.
