Traders tried to start their business in spite of the closure order by the corporation

The popular Shukrawari market in Vadodara has been kept closed to prevent further spread of Coronavirus. Meanwhile today on Friday as sellers tried to sit there, VMC teams reached there and heated arguments were seen at the spot.

The Friday market is famous for selling most of the old goods, discarded items, electrical and electronic items, books, hardware and many more. Meanwhile the market was closed for the last five months and the sellers are in bad position due to no earnings.

On Friday today they arrived at the bazaar with an intention to do some business. But the VMC anti encroachment team reached the spot and seized the things creating scenes of heated arguments between the two. The sellers shouted slogans against the corporation for not helping them in such challenging times when their business were shut down for months.

The market is usually crowded for shopping and the corporation’s anti encroachment teams along with police and ward officer of Ward 8 reached the spot to remove them as it leads to spreading of the virus.

They explained to the traders of the market about the importance of social distancing which is not possible to maintain in the market. Goods were seized from the market on Friday was sent to the Atalara store.
