There is a tradition in Gujarat to eat Fafda and Jalebi on Dussehra and one can see various make shift tents and stalls selling both the items everywhere. Vadodara is famous for foodies and hence it’s obvious to see people rushed to the stalls for delicious Fafda and Jalebi on Dussehra falls on Saturday this year.

We often see people don’t care about their health specially during the festive season and that makes the VMSS health department to conduct checking at the food eateries for quality of the food they are selling. On Friday a day before Dussehra the teams conduct checking in shops and make shift stalls selling Fafda and Jalebi. They also destroyed around 70kgs of Jalebi, Fafda and Chatni at the spot.

As per the details the three teams of VMSS health department checked the shops and stalls in Khaderao market, Rajmahal road, Ajwa road, Panigate, Waghodia road, Makarpura, Nizampura, Sama, Fatehgunj, Harni road, Warasiya areas. The team found Jalebi and Fafda packets and also in loose including the raw material. The teams collect the samples from various shops for checking and destroyed around 70kgs of materials at the spot after they found it to be unhygienic.

Food inspector Jitendra Gohil said the raw material used for making Fafda and Jalebi got stale including the colour content in the jalebi was more. As both the things are dangerous for health so their team destroyed both the things on the spot.

VMSS health officer Mukesh Vaidya said they formed three teams for the checking and distribute the responsibility as per wards. The checking will also continue on Saturday.
