Vadodara Social forestry department behind Sayajibaug is home of colourful birds and butterflies which increase the beauty of this place.

Butterflies species like Yellow Pansy, Black King, Grass Yellow, Common Lime, Common Rose, Common Pirate, Common Crow, Forget Me Not, Evening Brown, Danoid Egg Fly, Cupid and many species of birds make this area as there home and a perfect place for people to watch the beauty of nature.

Nidhi Dave, Range Forest Officer, Social Forestry Department, said that these beautiful and delicate butterflies make the nursery behind Sayajibaug and in front of Bal Bhavan i.e. Rope Breeding Center as their home. This year more than two lakh seedlings of different species have been raised in Vadodara and have been provided for planting and rearing to people.

Not only the butterflies but also the birds of different species like male and female cuckoo, hornbill, red-tailed bulbul, parrot, woodpecker, bee eater, golden oriole, maina babbler and blackish silky Sun Bird also lives at the same place.

Nidhi Dave says that they have planted fruit flower plants / trees like Jasud, Aparajita, Ekzora, Billy, Sweet Neem, Nagod, Lemon and others to enhance the beauty of the place. It has all the conveniences like The vines, plants and oak trees gives all the convenience to the birds and butterflies to visit. Under the guidance of Kartik Maharaja, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Department of Social Forestry and Mr. Rajguru, Assistant Conservator of Forests, this bird and butterfly garden is maintained carefully.

A butterfly garden has been systematically developed in Kevadia as an attraction of the Statue of Unity. Here it has evolved into a form of natural charisma.

Observing a bird or a butterfly needs patience and one visit here to watch them have to wait patiently to see them. Such places teach that if life is adapted to the whims of nature, then life becomes like a bird's nest. What could be more accurate than this World Nature Conservation Day lesson?
