Vadodara Police have arrested two persons, including a former employee, for stealing Rs 4.94 lakh in cash from Jio Mart godown on Koyli-Refinery Road in the city. The employee would occasionally go to the office and get information and later carried out the theft with the help of his associates.
As per available details the godown of Jio Mart is located near Ambika Plot on Koyli-Refinery Road. Some persons broke the lock of this godown and stole Rs. 4,94,941 cash from the locker as well as CCTV DVR. Meanwhile, Sohil Mohammadsafi Sheikh, a supervisor at Grerab A-Grub company, was informed about the incident and lodged a complaint at the Jawaharnagar police station.
Based on the complaint the police began investigation and obtained CCTV footage from around the godown. They found persons with a motorcycle and entered the godown. Further investigation revealed that Jaideep Solanki a former employee of the company, used to visit the office from time to time and got the office key from Girishbhai and made a duplicate.
After getting the key of the office, he entered the godown with the help of his associate Harshad Padhiyar and stolen the money from the locker at the godown. Police caught two in the matter and will be arrested after the RTPCR test.
