Vadilal MD likely to be GCCI senior VP

Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) will likely have an industrialist as senior vice-president again. By the GCCI constitution, the senior VP becomes president the next year.

Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) will likely have an industrialist as senior vice-president again. By the GCCI constitution, the senior VP becomes president the next year.

Current senior vice-president Sandeep Engineer will thus be president for 2024-25.

Sources say Rajesh Gandhi, MD of Vadilal Industries Ltd, is likely to be senior VP for 2024-25. GCCI members say the body is considering bringing corporate representatives as presidents for at least three years.

Other senior VP contenders will likely have to wait. This list includes former VP Sanjeev Chhajer, Bhargav Thakkar and current VP Mihir Patel. Former FICCI (Gujarat) chairman Rajiv Vastupal has taken a form for the senior VP election but has not yet submitted it. Rajesh Gandhi has not taken the form yet.

Sources said there is no consensus on the VP’s post. Gaurang Bhagat (treasurer), Apurva Shah (secretary), Saurin Parikh (chairman of textile task force), Hiten Vasant (former secretary) and Ankit Patel (chairman of environment committee) are the contenders.
