Several parts of Amreli and Rajkot districts recorded unseasonal rainfall on Sunday. In Rajkot, the sky in the city remained clouded and witnessed heavy lightning in the evening.
Gondal taluka of Rajkot also witnessed showers with hail being recorded in some places. Light showers accompanied by thunderstorms surprised people in Lodhika taluka of Rajkot.
Farmers in the area were concerned about the unseasonal rains as it would damage the wheat, cumin and garlic crops.
Several places in Amreli district recorded rainfall for the second consecutive day.
Some districts in the state received light rains on Saturday, while areas in the north and south Gujarat are likely to receive light rainfall during the next four days, the Ahmedabad centre of the IMD said.
It also forecast light thunderstorm, with lightning and surface wind of 30-40 kilometres per hour, accompanied by light rain in isolated places in Banaskantha, Patan, Dang, Tapi, Navsari and Valsad districts.
The IMD said an induced cyclonic circulation that lay over north Gujarat and its neighbourhood had shifted towards north Gujarat and adjoining southwest Rajasthan and extended up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.
