Teacher suspended for molesting student in Ahmedabad

The Ahmedabad City District Education Officer (DEO) has ordered a private school in Ambawadi to suspend a teacher whom a minor female student had accused of molestation about one year ago.
The student's parents recently complained against the teacher and the school's inaction after its administration failed to act for an entire year despite repeated complaints.
Following this, the DEO office rebuked the school administration and ordered it to suspend the accused teacher immediately.
Sources in the DEO's office said that last year the girl, who was then a Class 7 student at the private school, had complained to female teachers about the molestation.
When the school reportedly did not act, she informed her parents about the issue.
The parents demanded action from the school administration and filed an application against the teacher with Satellite police.
After this, the school only constituted an internal inquiry committee but did not take any disciplinary action against the teacher, the sources added.
Recently the parents approached Ahmedabad City DEO Rohit Chaudhary and complained about the matter.
The DEO called school administrators and rebuked them for their inaction. The officer also ordered them to suspend the teacher with immediate effect.
