Four workers died in a fire accident at the Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel plant in Hazira, Surat in evening at the last day of the year.

The bodies have been burnt to such an extent that it has become difficult to identify the deceased workers, and a situation arised that DNA tests have to be done.

A terrible fire broke out at the Corex-2 plant of Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel India Ltd. (AMNS) in Hazira, Surat. At this time, five workers working nearby were seriously burned.

Of these, four workers named Dhaval Patel, Ganesh Patel, Jignesh Parekh and Sandeep Patel died on the spot. While one worker has been shifted for treatment.

The incident took place at a steel plant in Hazira on Tuesday, December 31, at around 6 pm.

All four workers were so badly burned in the fire that their bodies were brought to the hospital in a bag.

As soon as the names of the four deceased were announced by the company, their families rushed to the hospital. 

They were furious that they were not informed for four hours after the incident.

Regarding the fire accident, ACP Deep Vakil said that the pipeline carrying raw material had come loose in AMNS Company's Forex Plant 2, where pig iron is made. The elevator was thrown sideways.

Due to which four workers died due to serious burns. The workers were passing by the elevator side when the hot material fell and they died.

Following the incident, a notified fire brigade team also rushed to the spot, while an investigation has also been started by the Industrial Safety and Health.
