Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister for Women and Child Development, Government of India planted a sapling next to the Statue of Unity premises for the upliftment of Women and Child Empowerment Forest. This forest will inspire the establishment of such nutrition gardens to accelerate women and child nutrition in all the states of the country by making it a model of nutrition garden for the entire country.

Ministers and delegates from various states who participated in the plantation before the inauguration of the National Conference on Women and Child Development, which was held keeping in view the motto of Signature Nutrition Desh Roshan.

Dr. Mahendra Munjpara, Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Government of India, Ganpat Singh Vasava, Minister for Women and Child Development, Gujarat and Child Development Minister Vibhavariben Dave planted saplings for the upbringing of the nutrition garden.

In the vicinity of the supreme statue of Sardar Patel, under this nutrition garden, the Forest Department has planned to plant 151 nutritional and health enhancing trees. Rekha Sharma, chairperson of the National Commission for Women, and Priyank kanongoo, chairperson of the Women and Child Rights Protection Commission, also planted saplings.

Kevadia's Deputy Forest Conservator P. J. Pandya said that in this Smriti Forest, many varieties will be grown as well as nutritious and medicinal plants.
