Police commemoration Day observed at Vadodara Police headquarters on Thursday by paying homage to the city policemen lost their lives on the line of duty. As a new initiative police commissioner Dr. Shamsher Singh declared to name a school or road in their village after them in their remembrance.

National Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21, in India, dedicated to the sacrifices of ten policemen, who died in Chinese firing in the year 1959. Vadodara Police also paid respect to the brave policemen died on the line of duty at Pratapnagar Headquarter on Thursday. A guard of honour was also given to the martyr policemen and their families were felicitated with shawls and certificate by the Police commissioner.

In a unique initiative a road, school or lane will be named after them at their village. "As part of Police commemoration day the force paid respect to the jawans martyred in the line of duty and their families were also felicitated. Specially we are naming a road, lane or school after the martyrs at their village. Their photo and career will also be displayed at the school their studied," Said Shamsher Singh.

The family members are also happy with this initiative and feel that their dedication towards duty is recognised and will inspire the future generations.

Cultural Programmes, exhibition and essay competition are also going to be held till 31st October as part of Police Commemoration Day.
