The girl was kidnapped by one Arvind Chauhan (40), a resident of Anjar in Kutch, and Jetha Vaghela (22), a resident of Morbi. The two sell brooms in various part of the city.

Sources in the city police said that the two had kidnapped the girl and were to force her to beg on the streets.

The duo after kidnapping the girl feared that they would be caught and hence left the four-year-old Janvi near the Kesar Hotel in Viramgam. The two are brothers-in-law.

Sarkhej police on Thursday registered a case of kidnapping after a four-year-old girl went missing from the Sanand Circle area.

The complainant Pappu Salat, 30, said he had left his son Sahil, 7, and Janvi at the circle when some unidentified persons kidnapped Janvi.

Sarkhej police inspector Vijay Chavda said that the complaint was given at 5.30 in the evening after which the investigation began.

Chavda said that the CCTV footage showed two persons carrying brooms and the girl. But since the footage was from a distance, their faces were not clearly visible.

He said that it was clear that the two had gone towards Viramgam. Teams began searching in Viramgam while talking to the victim's family. He said that Sahil also informed police that the girl was taken by two persons who were staying near their house.

Chavda said that no one was aware as to who they were as they had come to the area only five to six days ago.

No one in the area knew their names as they were only identified by their relationship (sala-banevi). Even Pappu Salat, the complainant, identified them as friends.

However, it was revealed that the two had gone with Salat to a pan shop and from the where their faces were revealed. The team was informed that the two made and sold brooms.

A team went to Dharangadhra as they got information that one of the accused was from Surendranagar.
