Rajput women stage fast against Rupala’s nomination
New Update

A group of 21 women began a symbolic fast on Saturday at the Rajput Samaj Bhavan in the Gota area of the city.

The fast is part of a coordinated effort by the Rajput community to voice their demands, specifically urging the withdrawal of nomination by Parshottam Rupala, the BJP candidate from the Rajkot Lok Sabha seat.

Rupala’s recent remarks against the princely states had stirred a controversy, upsetting the Rajput community.

Geeta Vaghela, the coordinator of the Rajput organization’s Coordination Committee, outlined the plan.

The Ahmedabad fast will continue for a week, while the samaj members in other regions will commence their fasts on Monday.

The community has also reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sending over a thousand letters to capture his attention to their cause.

The protest is seen as a final measure, with the women showing their resolve by fasting in the intense heat from 10am to 6pm.

Vaghela mentioned that the male members of the community will also participate in the protest.

They plan to take out a Dharm Rath from religious sites on Monday, traversing the area to symbolize their dissent.

The community is prepared to escalate their actions if their demands are not met.
