Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Gujarat on March 11 and 12. He will preside over a panchayati raj sammelan, a mega event at GMDC ground, and participate in a number of other events.
The sammelan, which will see a huge gathering, is being seen as the BJP's soft start that will build up to the assembly elections scheduled to take place in December. Key sources said, "Apart from the sammelan, PM Modi will preside over a few events of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
He is also expected to be present at the Khel Mahakumbh function likely to be held at the Sardar Patel Stadium. The PM is also expected to take part in the convocation of Raksha Shakti University in Gandhinagar. Modi is also likely to visit his mother Hiraba during his visit."
Sources added, "The PM's participation in the Khel Mahakumbh event is being perceived as an attempt to strike a chord with the youth. PM Modi is expected to visit Gujarat more regularly in the coming months due to the forthcoming assembly polls," said sources.
