Padra MLA Jaspalsinh Padhiyar along with farmers from Chokari village protested with outside the Gail Company office in Vadodara for non payment of proper compensation by the company. MLA will be meeting the revenue minister for quick resolution of the matter and till then delay the agitation.

In 2018, Gail Company started working on to lay a gas line and during drilling the farms of many farmers became loose in villages near Padra. After that rains and flooding caused extensive damage to the lands of more than 110 farmers in Chonkari village of Padra. The farmers, led by Padra MLA Jashpal Singh Padhiar, protested and after the visit the then SDM ordered to pay Rs 91 lakh to the farmers. But till date the farmers didn't received any money in their accounts and after many representations the farmers on Monday reached the Gail office in Vadodara and protest.

"The farmers are yet to get the money ordered by the then SDM and hence raised their protest outside the company gate. The Gail company officials showed willingness to pay the compensation but the present SDM office did not have any account and the farmers were stuck due to lack of coordination between the two government agencies. I am going to meet Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi and request him for a quick resolution," said Padhiyar.
