On Thursday, the number of new Covid-19 infections in Gujarat fell to 7,606 cases, despite the fact that the number of fatalities remained at 34. The state reported 8,938 new illnesses and 34 deaths on Wednesday.

Ahmedabad city had 3,118 cases and ten deaths, while Rajkot had 1,127 cases and four deaths. With this, the overall number of Covid cases in Ahmedabad has risen to 3,542, bringing the total number of cases to 3,59,399. Six people died in Surat city and district districts, bringing the total death toll to 2,044 and the number of cases to 2,02,361.

In light of the current Covid-19 scenario in the state, the state's core committee meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, resolved on Thursday to extend the present night curfew in 27 cities, including eight metros, till February 11.

In addition, public functions such as political, social, educational, cultural, and religious gatherings are now limited to a maximum of 150 people. In closed venues, however, 50% of the space capacity is allowed, with a maximum of 150 guests. In broad spaces, 300 guests are permitted, while in compact settings, 50 percent of the capacity of the place is permitted, with a maximum of 150 guests.

For a period of 24 hours, hotels and restaurants are permitted to continue providing home delivery services. The night curfew, which was supposed to terminate at 6 a.m. on February 4th, has been prolonged until February 11th, 2022.

Night curfews are currently in effect in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, and Gandhinagar from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Anand, Nadiad, Surendranagar, Dhrangradhra, Morbi, Wankaner, Dhoraji, Gondal, Jetpur, Kalavad, Godhra, Vijalpore (Navsari), Navsari, Bilimora, Vyara, Vapi, Valsad, Bharuch, and Ankleshwar were added to the list of cities with night curfews.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has declared four more residential areas as micro-containment zones: Maninagar, Thaltej, Chandkheda, and Nuhrunagar. The city council eliminated 12 zones from the list of confinement zones, leaving a total of 38.
