Mumbai Central and Vadodara Division bags GM's Overall Efficiency Shield in Western Railway's 66th Railway Week Award function held at Y B Chavan Auditorium, Churchgate. Total 150 Individual Awards were given for meritorious services by GM Alok Kansal
This award function is held every year to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of WR's team of officers and employees who are always ready to face challenges. Amongst them some selected ones are awarded for their outstanding performance. It not only encourages the officers & staff to give their best, but also inspires & motivates others to put their best foot forward in the coming year.
During the Railway Week, Efficiency Shields are also presented to Divisions in various categories. General Manager Alok Kansal presented the Efficiency Medal, Certificate of Merit and Cash Awards to 150 meritorious officers and employees. He also conferred 27 Efficiency Shields to the Divisions and the Units which have been adjudged the most efficient in various fields, including the prestigious & coveted General Manager's Overall Efficiency Shield for the year 2020-21. Mumbai Central & Vadodara Divisions jointly bagged GM's Overall Efficiency Shield for 2020-21 for Best overall performance. Kansal presented this Shield to Divisional Railway Managers of Mumbai Central and Vadodara Divisions.
According to a press release issued by Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Mumbai Central Division bagged the Inter Divisional Cleanliness, as well as Traction Efficiency Shields. Mumbai Central Division along with Ratlam Division also bagged the Commercial Efficiency Shield. Mumbai Central Depot won the 1st prize and Vadodara Depot the 2nd prize for Best maintained Mail/Express Train. The Rolling Shield for best maintained Running Room was bagged by Bandra Terminus of Mumbai Division and second position by Chittaurgarh of Ratlam Division. The Best Improvement Shield (Runner Up) was jointly bagged by Mumbai Central and Vadodara Division.
Besides, Efficiency Shields were also presented to Best Divisions/ Units in the spheres of work such as Operating, Medical, Safety, Security, etc. The Shields were awarded by Alok Kansal to respective Divisional Railway Managers, Chief Works Managers and Depot Incharges.
On this occasion, R K Sharma, Commissioner for Railway Safety, Western Circle; Tanuja Kansal – President of Western Railway Women Welfare Organisation (WRWWO), Addl General Manager of W.Rly along with Principal Heads of Departments, other senior officers & awardees were present. Keeping with the COVID-19 protocol, few awardee officers and staff working in Mumbai were felicitated at Y B Chavan Auditorium, whereas the others were felicitated through virtual platform.
In his address, Kansal extended his greetings to all railway men and their families on the occasion of 66th Railway Week. He congratulated the awardees for their outstanding performance. He mentioned that during the past 7 decades, WR has achieved several milestones, inspite of many challenges and adverse situations. He also enumerated the various accomplishments over Western Railway in the year 2020 – 21 and encouraged the workforce to give their optimum to achieve the organizational goals.
Kansal appreciated the contributions made by Western Railway Women's Welfare Organisation in various fields towards the welfare of Railway employees and their families and extends all possible help in times of need. Recently, a three-day vaccination camp was organized at Mumbai Central station for the benefit of porters, stall workers and parcel helpers working at the station, in which a total of 160 persons were vaccinated.
Similarly, ration kits were distributed to the porters at Bandra Terminus station. Apart from these, ambulances, sewing machines, washing machines, R.O machines and other such useful equipment have also been donated to Divisional units.
A corporate film which focused on the accomplishments and achievements by Western Railway was screened on this occasion followed by cultural programmes.
