The maximum temperature in Ahmedabad will likely touch 38 degrees celsius on Saturday, whereas in parts of North Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch it could 38°C to 40°C, according to the forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.
If the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad does indeed touch 38°C, it will be a 20-year high for a February day.
Thursday was Ahmedabad's hottest February day in seven years. Kutch breached 40°C on Thursday.
On Friday, the maximum temperature in the city was 37.3°C, which was 6.5 degrees higher than normal, whereas the minimum was 0.4 degrees below normal at 14.3°C.
'No large change in minimum temperatures during next three days. Thereafter, fall by two-three degrees during subsequent three days very likely over the region.
Maximum temperatures very likely in the range of 38-40 degrees celsius in part of North Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch during next two days,' the IMD forecast states.
