It is among the nine states in the country that has increased the number of oxygen beds by 10 times in four years.

At the start of the pandemic in April 2020, Gujarat had 4,061 beds with oxygen supply. The latest figure stands at 40,708, according to data tabled in the Lok Sabha.

The data was shared by MoS (health and family welfare) SP Singh Baghel in response to a question by BRS MP Nama Nageswara Rao on February 9.

The response added that the Centre, under phase II of emergency Covid-19 response and preparedness package (ECRP-II), provided financial support to states and Union territories to ramp up their health infrastructure including oxygen-supported beds.
