AHMEDABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its forecast on Sunday mentioned that the maximum temperature on Monday may reach 42 degrees celsius in Ahmedabad.
On Monday and Tuesday, heatwave conditions will prevail in Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Patan, Gir Somnath, Porbandar, Surendranagar and Kutch districts.
For the past few days, majority of the districts in north Gujarat and parts of Saurashtra and Kutch are witnessing maximum temperatures above 40 degrees celsius.
IMD officials said that from Wednesday onwards, there could be some respite from the intense heat in some parts of the state. In Ahmedabad, the temperatures have remained above 40 degrees for over a week.
