Vadodara city recieved around 3 inches (88mm) rains with heavy thunderstorm on the eve of Krishna Janmotsav. A solar rooftop meter installed on a building of Amitnagar Shivashish Society was burnt to ashes by lightning. However, no casualties were reported. In addition, reports of 2 mm to 1 inch rainfall were received from the local flood control room in the entire district. City-district residents were relieved by the heavy rains after a long lull and unbearable heat.
Amidst the onslaught of drought, the city was lashed by heavy rains with thunderstorms late at night. The low-lying areas of the city became waterlogged as more than 3 inches (88 mm) of rain fell in an hour from 3 a.m. to 4 p.m. Following the heavy rain with thunder and lightning, the people also got up from there sleep.
The lightning struck the solar rooftop installed on the house of a family living in Shivashish Society near Karelibagh Amitnagar circle in the city. The meter was burnt to ashes when lightning struck the solar rooftop meter. However, no casualties were reported from the incident. Power supply was disrupted in the area and in many areas of the city. In the morning, the GEB team reached Shivashish Society and proceedings were initiated to start the power supply.
After a long break, the citizens were largely relieved by the scorching heat following the heavy rains on the eve of Krishna Janmotsav. Along with city Vadodara district also recieved rains gives a much needed respite to the citizens.
