It was also stated that deliberations are underway to explore the possibility of establishing additional training centres for the police force to deal with not only the existing vacancies but also to cater to future needs.
With the Kathlal training facility, there will be six training academies for the police force at the state level, besides 20 district-level training facilities across the state.
These training centres have a combined capacity of 4,000 candidates.
There are 14 other training centres for new recruits of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), where 2,500 recruits in the constabulary can be trained, the affidavit said.
As the state govt has undertaken to fill 11,377 vacancies in different cadres of the police force by way of direct recruitment and total posts of 14,283 by Sep 2026, the department aims at optimum utilisation of these training facilities to adhere to the timeline it has fixed for the recruitment process.
The HC has asked the state govt to inform the court about the progress made in the recruitment process during the next hearing scheduled for the first week of December.
