After some respite, the maximum temperature in the city is likely to shoot up from Friday onwards, indicated the India Meteorological Department.
Against 37°C on Thursday, the maximum temperature on Friday is likely to be 39°C, mentioned the forecast. A 'Yellow alert' for the next four days has been declared for different regions of Gujarat. "No large change in maximum temperatures during next 24 hours, thereafter gradual rise by 2-4 degrees during subsequent four days very likely," mentioned the forecast.
While parts of Saurashtra and Kutch may experience temperatures around 40°C, Ahmedabad will experience heatwave conditions on Sunday. Surendranagar at 38.3°C was the hottest in the state on Thursday.
