Gujarat to have 10 Raksha Shakti schools

The state government on Tuesday announced that it would set up 10 Raksha Shakti residential schools in the state on a social partnership basis.

Two of these schools will be only for girls, and the schools will be similar to Sainik schools run by the Sainik School Society set up under the Union ministry of defence.

A statement from the state education department issued on Tuesday declared that setting up schools for children who want to make a career in the country's armed forces, paramilitary, and the police department had been under consideration for some time.

The schools will have Classes 6 to 12. An entrance test will be conducted for Class 5 students every year.
