In yet another brutal murder of a woman by a jilted lover, a 19-year-old was hacked to death and her hand dismembered, on national highway-48 near Vadodara.
On Wednesday, the crime branch nabbed 23-year-old Kalpesh Thakore for killing his former paramour Trusha Solanki. They were in a relationship for three years but she had broken off with him some months ago.
Thakore, however, kept stalking and pressuring her after getting to know that she had been talking to another man for the past few months.
He called up Trusha on Tuesday evening and threatened to commit suicide if she did not turn up. She agreed and they met an isolated spot near a landfill site at Dhaniyavi village near the city, said Chirag Koradiya, ACP.
Kalpesh had reached there on a bike with a friend. He asked his friend to wait on the highway and went to meet Trusha on the other side. They both went to an isolated spot nearby on her two-wheeler. "Kalpesh confronted her about the other man and asked her to stop interacting with him. But Trusha told him that she didn't want to talk about it and soon they got into heated arguments," cops said.
Meanwhile, when Trusha turned back to shoo away some stray dogs, Kalpesh took out a sharp weapon from under his shirt and attacked on her neck. She screamed for help but he kept slashing her mercilessly. Such was his brutal assault that when Trusha raised her hand in defence, it got dismembered and she died on the spot.
Kalpesh left on Trusha's two-wheeler, parked it near the highway and then fled on his bike with his friend who had no inkling about the murder. "A woman called up the police control room and informed us about the dead body. We learnt about her identity from the Aadhaar card found in her trousers' pocket and contacted her family members," Jaydeepsinh Jadeja, DCP (crime) said. Trusha, a native of Godhra, was living with her uncle in Vadodara, to study for competitive exams. She had already passed the test for police constable.
Kalpesh told the cops that he was in a relationship with her for three years but their interaction reduced when she went back to Godhra. Kalpesh learnt that she had returned to the city two months after which he tried to re-establish contact with her. But she rebuffed his moves that enraged him. He even tried to commit suicide by consuming sleeping pills some days ago.
