Entrepreneurial spirit is blossoming in the state, not just in terms of Gujarat Inc but also among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the state.

On Friday, Gujarat saw its 100th SME company get listed on the NSE Emerge platform.

With this, Gujarat now accounts for the lion's share, 30%, of the 341 SMEs listed on the NSE Emerge platform.

According to data from the NSE, Gujarat's SME companies have cumulatively raised Rs 1,810 crore so far, with a combined market cap of Rs 18,600 crore.

Maharashtra is next to Gujarat with 98 companies listed and Rs 1,768 crore raised.

According to NSE, some 43 SME companies from Gujarat have migrated to the main platform thus far after fulfilling the necessary criteria.

NSE Emerge has listed 341 companies so far which have raised Rs 6,207 crore and their total market cap is Rs 74,632 crore.

Market sources said several SME companies plan to get listed on exchanges because they can raise funds through this route and in the recent years such IPOs have seen increased interest from investors as these IPOs get subscribed many times over.
