Gujarat Govt issues notification to strictly implement manja

Gujarat home department on Saturday issued a notification banning Chinese manja, nylon manja and tukkal (lantern) which causes deaths of people, birds and cause fire during the Uttarayan festival.

The home department through a circular to the DGP, all police commissioners, district collectors, municipal commissioners and all DSPs, told them to ensure strict implementation of the direction to prevent the use of Chinese manja, nylon manja or tukkal (lantern).

The department has also directed all authorities to launch an awareness drive at public places through LED hoardings.
