Five sanitation workers (safai kamdar) from the solid waste management department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) were fired on Wednesday for "misbehaviour," "indiscipline," and "obstructing" the civic body's operations.
According to a statement released by the AMC on Wednesday, the decision was made after a departmental investigation confirmed the allegations against five workers: Hitendrakumar Purshottam Makwana, Girishbhai Chhanabhai Solanki, Mukeshbhai Somabhai Makwana, Jagdishbhai Bhimjibhai Valodara, and Mahendrabhai Baldevbhai Dodiya.
These individuals were hired as helpers in the solid waste management department's Sarkhej, Jodhour, and Maktampura wards.
According to the release, these workers are accused of "using improper language over the phone" with AMC ward and zonal authorities against the relocation of Safai Kamdar, as well as "misbehaving with AMC officials requesting transfer of Safai Kamdar."
