Mumbai police has long held the reputation of being one of the best investigating agencies in the country.
But when it comes to completing investigations and disposing of cases, Gujarat tops the charts.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, in 2021, state had only 1.7 per cent of the cases pending in investigation.
Last year, the police disposed of 4.65 lakh cases and only 8,272 cases were pending in investigations by the end of the year. Charge-sheet rate was 99.8 per cent - the highest in the country.
In 2020, the pendency percentage of the cases was just 3.1 per cent and the cops filed charge-sheets in 97.1 per cent cases.
